Pictured below at the meeting in November 2018 are the members of the Duke of Connaught Lodge No. 1834 and Owers Light Lodge. Reciprocal visiting between the two Lodges has been an annual event with 2018 being the 30th Anniversary.

Pictured below at the meeting in October 2016 are the members of the Duke of Connaught Lodge No. 1834 from Portsmouth with our own Owers Light Lodge members.
The Lodge members are a social bunch, so much so that over 60% of the membership regularly turn out for Lodge of Instruction meetings to practice our ritual and floor-work in an atmosphere of mutual support and good hearted humour. Coupled to this are our regularly held “Brekkers” at the local Garden Centre where we spend a very pleasant couple of hours over a breakfast and a couple of cups of tea or coffee. We try and arrange a BBQ every year and, without fail, hold a Ladies Night or Ladies weekend to acknowledge the success of the Masonic year and the contributions made by the Master and his wife, and all our Ladies who have supported us throughout the year.
In 2019, we, again with families and friends, joined up with Gordon Lodge for their newly created “Highland Fling” complete with Haggis, Neeps, Tatties and the like!! An excellent evening all round with some 60 plus diners witnessing the Haggis being piped in and addressed in a similar manner to a Burns Night. It is now considered that this will be an annual event, so if you would like to come next year (February) with family and friends, both Masonic and non-Masonic, please get in touch through our contact page nearer the time. Lodge Member Receives his 60 Year Certificate
W Bro Paul A. Trill PAGStB has passed the magnificent milestone of sixty years continuous membership in Freemasonry and has been presented with his Sixty Year Certificate to mark this truly memorable occasion.
W Bro Colin S. Ballard PGStB gave the assembled Brethren a brief history of Paul’s life, both in and out of Masonry, and then presented him with his certificate, to loud applause, on Friday 28th April 2023.
Very many congratulations are extended to Paul from all in Owers Light Lodge and we wish him much health and happiness to continue his journey in Masonry for many more years to come. Very well done Paul.
Owers Light from Chichester berth in Barford Court
The 14th January 2020, saw Owers Light Lodge hold their very first Lodge of Instruction outside of Chichester, at Barford Court in fact.
Invited by W Bro Mick Mills and the residents, 15 members of the Lodge of Instruction braved the high winds, lashing rain and flooded roads to give a demonstration of the Initiation ceremony to some of the residents who took advantage of the spectacle! Afterwards, the group, pictured below, all gathered in the communal area for a beer and a “chinwag” reliving past Masonic experiences. The residents stated they thoroughly enjoyed the occasion, and W Bro Mick feels he would like to see the experience repeated with other Lodges in Sussex, as it allows these elderly and experienced Masons to once again share in the fun and companionship that these occasions provide.
If any Lodge feels they could repeat the efforts of Owers Light members, he would like to hear from them. His ideal would be a different Lodge of Instruction coming along each month to give these worthy brethren another experience which I suspect they felt had been denied to them by age or infirmity?

Provincial Ashlars ‘Rescued’ from East Grinstead
On the 7th May 2019, eleven members of the Lodge, including the Worshipful Master and Lodge Wardens, travelled to Sackville Lodge No. 1619 to ‘rescue’ the Provincial travelling Ashlars and return them to the west of the Province. A most enjoyable evening was had by all.
